If you are reading this, you already know that the stereo system that your Soul left the factory with is adequate, but just barely. The most economical way to improve it is to simply replace the speakers. Keep the factory head unit and replace the speakers for a big improvement in sound with minimal impact on your budget. If you are thinking of replacing the rear speakers, you have probably already replaced the fronts. If not, you should do that modification first or alongside this one. The front speaker replacement is far more noticeable than the rear one, so do that one instead or in addition to the rears. Here is what you need to know about replacing your rear speakers on your Kia Soul.
Parts Needed
- Rear Speakers
Purchase a good set of aftermarket speakers for your Kia. No use doing all the work to simply replace them with a set that is only slightly better. The rear speakers should be a 6.5 inch one, but you should consider removing the old speakers prior to purchasing new ones so that you can verify the size and measure for any clearance issues when moving to a potentially deeper speaker.

Installation Overview
First, you will need to remove the rear door panels. Use caution and look for every screw that needs to be removed. If you go to pull on the panel and you meet resistance, check for a missed screw or fastener. Unplug any electrical wires attached to the panel and place it in a safe place. Now, you will see the speaker and see that it is riveted in place. You will need to drill out the rivets to remove the old speakers. Once you do that, you can disconnect the speaker wire and set the old speaker aside. Cut the speaker wires and make a new connection for the replacement speakers. To install the new speakers, you will need to line it up in the mount and drill new screw holes for it. Once you have done that, you can connect the speaker wires to the new speaker, mount it in the door and reinstall the door panel. Boom, you are all done.
What To Expect
While not as dramatic of a difference as the front, replacing the rear speakers will definitely be noticeable. This will be especially true to your passengers.
Install Tips

- Buy Good Speakers
Quality counts with speakers. If you are going through all of the trouble to open up your door panel, spend a few bucks extra on good speakers. - A Little Force Goes A Long Way
Be careful when removing your door panel. It is all too easy to damage one of the plastic fasteners. If it does not come off with slight pressure, step back and try and figure out what is holding it in place. It is just too easy to overlook a hidden screw. - Speaker Lights
If you have factory speaker lights, you will require further modifications to get them to work.
