I have an Acer Aspire AOD257 and would like to upgrade to 2gb. Computer is currently at its factory default spec's I purchased it with. My main problem is that 4gb seems to be cheaper than 2gb for some reason.
The memory on your Acer Aspire 1410 notebook is customer replaceable. The memory is expandable up to a maximum of 4 GB, employing industry-standard soDIMMs (Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Modules). The computer supports DDR2 667 MHz RAM.
Note: Existing RAM may need to be replaced in order to expand to the maximum of 4GB.
What you will need to upgrade your memory:
- Small Phillips-head screwdriver
- Memory upgrade module(s)
Installing Memory
The computer has two memory slots that are customer-upgradeable from the bottom of the computer. To install memory, follow these steps:
- Turn off the computer and unplug the AC adapter.
- Turn the computer over to access its base.
- Slide the battery lock latch to the unlock position.
- Slide and hold the battery release latch to the release position (1), then slide out the battery from the main unit (2).
- Loosen the four captive screws in the memory cover.
- Lift the memory cover away.
- Push the memory module clips outwards.
- Pull the memory module out.
- Repeat steps 7 and 8 for second memory module if needed.
- Slide the memory module into the connector.
- Press down until the locking springs click into place.
- Repeat steps 10 and 11 for second memory module if needed.
- Place the memory door down corner side first.
- Tighten the four captive screws.
- Reinstall the battery pack.
- Reconnect the AC adapter.
- Turn on the computer.
Note: Existing RAM may need to be replaced in order to expand to the maximum of 2GB.
