- Solved it in my case: It wasn't OBSE, it was an ENB mod I'd forgotten about called OBME. OBME requires OBSE to run, so loading the non OBSE exe allowed the game to run. I deactivated OBME by deleting the appropriate .dll file from the OBME/extras folder and voila! Game runs with OBSE_loader.exe now.
The only really annoying thing remaining is that I can only get Vorpx to work after a fresh computer restart. (WTF?) No amount of restarting the game after that will work, using a Vorpx shortcut or trying to have it detect automatically. There's no error message or crash, the game simply starts without Vorpx. I'll ask around on the Vorpx forum and see if anyone there has any ideas.
Back to ENB, there are suggestions around the net about people getting Skyrim to run with Vorpx and still getting ENB to work. It may revolve around using an ENB injector VS an ENB wrapper. Pretty sure the normal way OBME works is as a wrapper. Maybe a mod that injects ENB instead will work?
