However, most bruh's in my chapter graduate and aren't active w/ the Grad chapter because they are simply burned out on frat work while in the undergrad chapter. We partied and kicked it, but we were very serious about our business, i.e. Fraternity projects, fundraising activities and making sure the chapter is in good health. Undergraduate versus Graduate Chapters. Alpha Kappa Alpha is comprised of both undergraduate and graduate chapters. The requirements for joining an undergraduate and graduate chapter are relatively similar but differ in classification. Undergraduate chapters are open to women who attend an accredited 4-year college or university as a full-time.

Membership Processes

Reactivation

Process

We have a strong legacy of sisterhood. Therefore, we welcome all Sorors back into our fold. You are welcome to attend a chapter meeting as a visiting Soror. We meet on the second Monday of each month with the exception of the months July and August. Please bring anything that identifies you as a member of the Sorority to include an expired financial card, IVY LEAF with your name and address, accompanied with valid state or federal issued identification. Our membership chairman will gladly assist you with this process.

Graduate Membership

Process
Graduate membership is by invitation only and is not solicited through our graduate chapters. Graduate chapters host public events, such as forums, cultural presentations and social activities, so that prospective candidates can become acquainted with chapter members and learn about service activities they offer to local communities.
The Graduate Membership Intake Process (MIP) begins with a Letter of Invitation, signed by the graduate chapter president AND membership chairman on chapter stationery. There are no membership activities prior to receipt of an official invitation letter, and the Sorority prohibits partaking in MIP activities prior to receiving an official letter.

  • Pledging is not a part of the membership process, and anyone who knowingly and willingly participates in pledging activities may be forbidden membership with the Sorority. Additionally, suspension and/or expulsion may result if it is later discovered that an individual participated in pledging activities once a member.
