Train Hard, Fight Easy is the 5th main quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance (KCD). This walkthrough will guide you through all objectives and paths of the Train Hard, Fight Easy Main Quest.

May 30, 2019  One archery contest that always gave XP was the “shooting logs” in Talmberg. But you need a good bow for it to work, as with a low strength bow, the arrows won’t stick to the log - no hit. Forced June 7, 2018, 8:14pm #19.

Train Hard, Fight Easy triggers automatically after completing Awakening Main Quest.

Ran…

Get to the Training Ground and talk to Captain Bernard

Review

The training ground is automatically marked on your map. It’s on the eastern exit of Rattay.

Go there at 7:00 AM in the morning. You can sleep in your bed or press Touchpad (PS4) to advance time. Captain Bernard doesn’t spawn at any daytime, it has to be day.

This is a good time to point out that you need to keep an eye on your “Nourishment” and “Energy” stats. You won’t die if they decrease to 0 but you will faint and not taking care of yourself will impact your other stats negatively. Advancing time lowers Nourishment and Energy with every hour that passes. Try to keep these values above 50 and you’ll be fine. Nourishment is refilled by eating, Energy by sleeping in a bed.

Undertake Bernard’s Training / Sword Tutorial

Captain Bernard will give you a sword fighting tutorial. You can pick if you want the basic or advanced training. I recommend the advanced training if you still remember everything from the first sword training in Skalitz.

Follow Bernard to the Shooting Range

After the sword training, follow Bernard over to the archery range.

Undertake Archery Training

You only have a few seconds to shoot some arrows before Lord Capon arrives and challenges you. Use this time wisely.

You draw the bow by holding / . Let loose of the button to release the arrow.

How to Aim with Bow:

Aiming is rather hard with the bow as there’s no reticle. You aim by watching the tip of the arrow. Alternatively, watch the left side of your hand. Because you are not holding the bow perfectly straight the arrows tend to fly further to the left from where the arrow points. Also aim a little bit above your target. The arrows drop very quickly (the arrow drop also depends on type of bow and arrow used). It takes practice but it’s fun to master and you can return after the mission to practice more.

Compete with Hans Capon in Archery

Lord Hans Capon will arrive and challenge you to an Archery Contest. If you win this one you are a great archer already! Winning the contest will also get you Lord Capon’s bow. If you lose you’ll have to pay him money.

Swordfight with Hans Capon

The next challenge is to compete in a swordfight with Lord Capon. Use what you learned earlier and you should be fine, this is a little easier than the Archery contest. If you win it will void your debts (in case you lost at Archery).

Speak with Bernard

Talk to your teacher Bernard. He will send you to the Bailiff to take up your guard duties.

Report to the Bailiff

The Bailiff gets marked on your map automatically. He is in the building above the Armorer. When you stand in front of the Armorer’s shop, take a few steps to the right and you can go into a small courtyard and up some wooden stairs. Enter the building via these wooden stairs and go further up to the top floor. The Bailiff lives there. However, they will walk around a little depending on daytime so his exact spot can vary slightly. Also note that at night they lock the doors. If it’s late already the doors might be locked. In that case, advance time until 11 AM the next day and everything will be unlocked.

Baby dove pictures. Talking to the Bailiff concludes the Train Hard, Fight Easy Main Quest.
